RECOVERY INSIGHT

Investment platform collapses vs. classic affinity fraud

How the recovery analysis differs when a platform fails versus when trust networks are exploited.

Not every investment loss is the same legal problem. A platform collapse, insolvency or regulatory shutdown raises different tools than affinity fraud run through churches, diaspora groups or professional circles.

Platform matters often turn on corporate records, insolvency proceedings, preferential transfers and whether promoters personally received diverted funds. Documentation of subscription agreements, dashboard exports and bank rails into the platform is critical.

Affinity fraud frequently hinges on personal relationships and informal pitch materials. Witness statements, group chat archives and proof of who introduced whom can matter as much as bank wires.

Both patterns benefit from early asset tracing. Once promoters dissipate proceeds into lifestyle spending or layered entities, collective recoveries become slower and more contested. Timing and evidence still drive what is viable.
