Peer-to-peer marketplace fraud: chat and payment proof

Organizing marketplace messages, release triggers and off-platform payment diversions.

P2P marketplace fraud often pushes victims off-platform to irreversible payment methods. Escrow or buyer-protection promises advertised on the listing frequently never apply to those off-platform payments.

Export on-platform chats before accounts are banned. Save listing URLs, usernames, escrow status screens and any instruction to pay via crypto, gift cards or direct transfer.

If the marketplace has a dispute process, file it with complete attachments and calendar any deadlines. Parallel bank or exchange notices should use the same dates and amounts.

Off-platform payments should be traced as ordinary wires or crypto transfers. The marketplace identity trail and the payment trail must be linked in one chronology for counsel.
