After a loss, victims are frequently targeted again by outfits that promise guaranteed recovery for upfront “taxes,” “bond fees” or “AML clearance” charges. Legitimate counsel does not guarantee outcomes or demand secret unlock payments.
Warning signs include pressure to pay quickly via crypto or gift cards, refusal to identify licensed lawyers, cloned websites of real firms and documents filled with official-looking seals that do not match any court process.
Ask for the lawyer’s name, license jurisdiction and engagement terms in writing. Verify registration independently. Be wary of anyone who claims exclusive access to frozen funds that only they can release.
If you have already paid a fake recovery agent, preserve those payment records too—they form a separate fraud trail and should be included in any later case review.
