A destination wallet address is only one data point. Recoverable paths often depend on whether assets later hit a centralized exchange, custodian or other service that can identify a customer and respond to lawful process.
Preserve TXIDs, wallet addresses, network type, timestamps and screenshots of the sending interface. Export chat or email threads that show how you were instructed to pay, including any “support” accounts that directed further transfers.
On-chain clustering can suggest where funds moved, but legal leverage usually appears at off-ramp points: KYC’d exchanges, payment processors or fiat accounts. Mapping those touchpoints to jurisdictions guides which courts or regulators may be relevant.
Not every crypto loss supports a proportionate recovery strategy. Mixing services, unhosted wallets and rapid cash-outs can leave little to pursue. An early evidence review helps separate promising trails from speculation.
